Forget hotels, a luxury villa is the way to go. Your own space, your own music, your own catering and to be able come and go as you please. A home away from home and a pretty luxurious one at that. You and your extended family and/or group of friends can have the time of your lives in privacy, you set the rules. Here are five mouthwatering prospects that you can’t help admire for their handsome looks, fabulous facilities and superb locations on the beautiful island of Ibiza.
When you first clap eyes on this head-turning villa you could be forgiven for thinking and feeling you’ve just arrived on a film set, it’s a stunner and possesses the wow factor in spades. The outside spaces are vast and perfectly manicured. The planting is well thought out and sets off the white washed facade perfectly, leaving you in admiration for the landscape designer and the gardeners who keeps it all beautifully maintained. The rising hills beyond, border the property in green. Can Alegre resides in a quiet neighbourhood close to Ibiza town and is the last word in luxury.
That’s the outdoor spaces, just wait until you cross the threshold and take a long admiring look at the interiors. High tech contemporary, clean lines, no expense spared luxury pervades every square inch. This is a property to die for. I personally would like to soften the furnishings a little but that’s really a minor quibble, I’d happily spend two weeks here and beg to be allowed to stay longer. I’d spend the days floating in the photogenic pool, I’m not sure I’d even make it down to the soft white sand of the renown Talamanca Beach which is nearby.
The master suite to end all master suites is an eye opener, to say the least. Neutral tones are set off by futuristic purple lighting and you have a private terrace with sea-facing views and a huge en suite with a plush bathtub set near the huge windows so you can gaze out at the med while you loofah your back and water bomb the plastic ducks.
Music lovers will love the 30-speaker sound system which can pipe music all around the villa and allow you to throw your own private party after a lovely al fresco experience in the superb outdoor space. At night time, Can Alegre really comes to life, proudly showcasing a neon light display that keeps the ambience electric after sunset.
Set high on a cliff ledge in the charming Es Cubells village, Casa Atlantis overlooks the brilliant blue Mediterranean Sea and benefits from awe inspiring views and private access to the beach. Guests can relax and gaze at the view from the vast cantilevered deck. Atlantis has rustic touches that echo nature but is contemporary in design and very spacious. The interiors are light and airy and engender the feel good factor.
You can take a short stroll down to the sea via a private walkway where you can swim in its warm turquoise water allowing you to admire how the whitewashed villa blends so perfectly into its natural surroundings. There is every opportunity to spend lots of time outdoors as the outdoor spaces are huge and purpose built for al fresco dining, sunbathing and playing games.
The modern interior is impressive, complete with sleek wood panelling, cream walls and floral touches. The master bedroom, in particular, grabbed my attention. A sprawling space which channels the outdoors, with huge stone vases housing leafy plants, gold lighting and smooth wooden furnishings. The ensuite bathroom feels like a private cabin on a yacht, with its huge, marble-lined bathtub facing picture windows that look out to the sea.
There’s something for all ages to appreciate here, so no need to worry about enjoyment levels. The fitness fanatics can work out in the gym, meanwhile the children and teenagers will love the games area with its retro arcade games and table tennis, features that will no doubt keep them occupied for hours.
Last but not least the infinity pool which hangs on the edge of a cliff is my idea of heaven, complete with a bank of sun loungers standing by just waiting for you to take up residence with cocktails on demand and fabulous views.
Villa Las Olas
Ultra contemporary in design, Villa Las Olas is located high on a clifftop in a quiet residential spot on Ibiza’s north-west coast. This bright white and minimalist villa sits in expertly manicured tropical gardens and is beautifully set in the topography of its location. With stunning views over the Med the villa affords a grandstand view of the sunset.
If you like to dine out you’ll find restaurants in nearby Santa Eularia and Ibiza Town but you will be torn, it really is hard to leave Las Olas when so much luxury is on hand. A BBQ around the pool as the sun goes down and the designer lighting comes on is idyllic. Crank up the tunes and dance away the night in a location to die for.
The outside spaces are well thought out for relaxing, al fresco dining and basking in the sun. They are matched for appeal by the spacious interiors that are flooded with natural light in the day. I can’t see you spending much time indoors to be honest, apart from sleeping in the beautiful bedrooms of course, the outdoors are so enticing and the views so spectacular you’ll want to spend every minute drinking it all in, it’s good for the soul.
Situated in the verdant hills of central Ibiza, villa Can Joya is a modern and minimalist pad, well-suited to those with contemporary tastes. Wilder unspoilt land extends away from the house, ensuring privacy while giving the adventurous a place to explore. And for those who are content staying in and around the villa and pool the entertainment on offer, including a cinema room, mini football pitch and kids playhouse are there to delight and kill any down time and boredom the kids might feel..
Can Joya is a gem of a villa. From first glance, it oozes a luxury aura, with wooden panels and floor-to-ceiling windows decorating the width of its one floor. The huge sliding glass panels enables the interior to become flooded with natural light in the daytime, with verdant garden views granted in all rooms and allow the interiors to become at one with nature.
Glancing around at the modernist and minimalist dècor, accentuated by subtle golden lighting from bulbs set inside dangling lobster pots I was won over by it’s charm and homeliness. Truly Avant Garde, yet it instantly feels like home.
You sink into one of the plush living room sofas where you can fully appreciate the open-plan space with its concrete ceilings and monochrome tones that lend the villa an elegant industrial sensibility. I made a mental note to find out who designed the beautiful furniture. There are some gorgeous pieces including several oval-shaped coffee tables and a large timber dining table, very original, almost rustic and exactly to my taste.
I was highly amused by the 5-a-side football pitch, fenced in, and with proper goals, this is a first for me, I’ve never seen one of those at a luxury residence before.
The well equipped gym might not really be your cup of tea, but the pool will probably be appreciated by everyone. What could be better than waking up and swimming a few lengths in its heated crystal waters before breakfast, a refreshing start to the day.
There’s a fabulous rustic terrace, with rattan furniture stuffed with soft cosy cushions and pendant lights creating a cosy atmosphere. If I were staying here this is where I’d spend most of my time.
The bedrooms are all impressive, but the master suite is something else. Occupying one of the corners of the building, it has wrap-around windows with pool views and terrace access.
This luxurious villa, and I mean luxurious, is on a private island off the north-east coast of Ibiza. It not often you can boast that you’re staying in the only property on an island but it’s true, master of all you survey, even if is only for a few days. You have the whole island to yourself apart from a beach bar on the western coast. Yachts drop anchor and the sailors come ashore for a spot of lunch, so there is some activity and life on the island if the thought of being isolated entirely puts you off.
Sprawling villa Tagomago, being the only abode on the island, is perfect for wild, noisy parties, or conversely, a get-away-from-it-all hideaway. The island is criss-crossed by idyllic country pathways and is a great place to explore. There are secluded coves and a couple of steep inclines to get you out of breath with rewarding sea views from precipitous cliff tops.
This ultra modern, five-bedroom villa has a open-plan living areas with floor-to-ceiling windows, a large dining room and a well equipped kitchen that’s fit for a pro chef. Full-length sliding glass doors open onto the lounge and dining terraces, and outside, there’s a large glittering pool, sunset-facing Jacuzzi and a rooftop terrace. There is the opportunity to get active with water sports – scuba diving can be arranged – and trekking, if that takes your fancy? Or perhaps just take it easy and enjoy the panoramic sea views from the villa’s assortment of lounge terraces. If you want peace and tranquillity, Tagomago is for you.
